I'm writing this on my way to a castle in the countryside of the Czech Republic. So we got up and headed to breakfast on the roof terrace of our hostel. It was unbelievable we were sitting under the Prague castle getting ready to start our exploring. First thing up was to check on the car. So we walk down the hill to the square where we left the car. That apparently was not a good place to leave it because we have a ticket. It's written in Czech and have no idea what it says. In fact I'm not sure if we have possession of it anymore. Whoops. I went in to ask where we park the car and the lovely woman told us something completely different than the person the night before. We were no where near where we should have parked. So once we figured that out we went and properly parked it. It was safe the rest of the time.

We walked to Charles Bridge and the browsing began. I'm sure people are cringing thinking we were clearly in a tourist trap. Well duh, we were tourists and it was cool stuff.

It took us about 35mins to make it across the bridge with the browsing and we ended up in Old Towne. We were headed for and underground tour where they take you through the under city. Prague was built upon itself so there was basically another city underneath the one that is there now. It's unbelievable looking at how old the buildings were, what we were seeing under the city. Pretty sure it wasn't the tour we wanted but it was still pretty cool. One of the underground had a bunch of Aquariums in it...what? We don't know either. We ended up at the astronomical clock to watch the show at 3pm. Show is not an accurate word. On the hour something happens where doors open, skeletons pull on rope and things slowly rotate and spin. It was interesting and if you looked really close at the things also fairly creepy and disturbing. Akansha and I briefly lost Melissa. We found her again in a Dali exhibit after looking like weirdos looking through all the people at the outside cafes.

It was then decided that we should try to do the paddle boating that we had seen on e way across Charles bridge. We were off in a search for the paddle boating people. We spent an hour drinking excellent Prague beer and paddle boating around the river, looking at all the petty buildings and people. Somehow during our trip we decided to start calling attractive guys "buildings" so I wasn't being so obvious about alerting the others to the beauty that exists. Anyway, abiding by my hot European of the day idea, we saw two boats of very attractive blonde foreign speaking guys. One of the girls was trying to covertly get their pictures which wasn't successful. So I grabbed my camera, yelled over to their boat hi and could they please smile. They were so willing to be in the photo. It was lovely. I did that again to a brunette boat to even the blonde/brunette ratio. Or at least that's my excuse and I am sticking to it. After amazing amounts of fun on the paddle boat we got off and headed back to Lesser Quarter where we were staying.

We got seriously delayed on Charles Bridge having a shopping spasm. Very pretty things were bought we were very very happy ladies. It makes me smile just knowing what is in my bag for me to play with later. Then we grabbed some Czech food and beer. Then we headed back to get ready to go out. Our original plan was to go to Jazz Dock and listen to the performer the go out dancing. Our lovely hostel boy, David, who maybe was 17 called us a cab and off we went. However, Jazz Dock was packed and not allowing more people in so we were lucky our cab drive was still around. After Melissa having to call David and repeatedly trying to get the cab driver, David and her to agree on where they were going, we headed to Lucerna. Lucerna is an 80s and 90s video dance club. They shown the music videos on a huge screen and a bunch of the and you get to relive your childhood while dancing like crazy. Now it's not dancing like it is in the US. Here it's people don't care about anything and do what they want on the dance floor. It made for an amazing experience. Melissa danced with a few different people. Akansha tried not to dance with anyone but us and I danced briefly with some dude who spoke zero to no English, but thought my name was Kitten and made intensely uncomfortable eye contact. That didn't last long before I was escaping to another area of the dance floor. We called it a night at about 3:30 am. It took three cab drivers before I agreed on a price to get back, greedy bastards. We got back at 4 am and thought how much fun it was going to be to get up in the later morning.

End of day one. I tried to include everything that happened. Day two is next, I'm working on all these at the same time trying to decide how to break them up. For my sanity I am doing them by day.

Love,
Catherine on meds to not throw up while writing this in a car
