Christmas was filled with family and friends. My mom, my sister (Lucy), my brother-in-law, Eddie and their two kids, Rio (age 3) and Diego (3 months) came to spend Christmas and New Years with me. I was so thankful to have them here. It would have been very quiet and very lonely without them. Marcy (my little sister who lives in Italy) and her family were sorely missed. I dream of spending one Christmas with everyone. I just have to win lotto to do that! :-)

Lucy and her family arrived on December 21. I took off from the 23 through January 2. We did some touristy stuff like visit the cathedral of salt and monserrate (previously menitoned in other entries). Then we drove (yup, I drove the work car - a huge suburban) to a town three and a half hours outside of Bogota. The town is called Girardot. Interestingly enough, the climate is hot. It's in a lake region and we stayed at an all-inclusive resort. Rio had a great time and I got to do a little water skiing (after I swallowed a whole bunch of water) and ran almost every morning. it was good to get away from the city and see something new and different. It was also really nice that it was warm and sunny. Unfortunately, the mosquitos had a field day on my arms and legs and I got stung by a bee on my butt while I was sitting at the pool bar waiting to be served. Kind of put a damper on things, but only for a while. We relaxed and spent time just hanging out.

We headed back to Bogota the following morning and got Diego to a doctor. Turns out he had some type of viral infection that required a respiratory therapist to treat him 2x daily until he went home. Still, Diego was a champ. Didn't complain and was happy and smiley all the time.

New Year's Eve mom and I went to the Ambo's house for a party. It was a great time! We danced, ate and drank until about 11:30 when we headed home to celebrate the new year with Lucy, Eddie and the sick kids. At midnight, I popped open a bottle of champagne, we toasted the new year and pretty much went to bed. It was the earliest I've been to bed on New year's in a long time. I got a chance to talk with my las vegas friend just after midnight which was really nice.

That just about wrapped up 2005! No resolutions for next year. Why put pressure on myself when I am happy with the way my life is now. Colombia has been great so far and a heck of a lot warmer than DC! I miss my friends, especially my new york crew. I had gotten use to spending new years with them and running the midnight run in central park. But, it's amazing to think how much life can change in a year. Let's see what next year has in store for me!!!

Love you all! Thanks for reading.
