We were up and on the road from the shore about 9:30, it was expected to be be a 3 hour trip. We had to drive through Pennsylvania just south of Philly and on through Delaware stopping for a break at Wilmington. For most of the trip we were driving through torrential rain, we gave JRob a call just as we crossed the border into Maryland around noon to let him know we were about an hour away. We made a quick stop in Aberdeen to check out the Ripken Baseball Complex, pretty impressive setup to cater for baseball players of all ages. Arrived at Justin's place in pouring rain about 1:30.
We rested up for a little while before deciding to take the car back a day early, we wouldn't be needing it anymore - the road trip was over 6000 miles, fair effort in just over three weeks. Our little Chevy was comfortable enough for the two of us and it didn't miss a beat - not a bad deal for just over $500.
On the way back from Hertz, Justin took us to Hamden to stock up on some supplies. Hamden is an older part of Baltimore, with similarities to Fitzroy, it is where the movie Hairspray was filmed. We decided to have Chinese take-out and ordered more than enough food to feed the three of us, all for 25 bucks - we even had left overs.
Got back to the apartment and settled down to dinner and watched the ballgame live on TV, while the thunder, lightning and rain continued outside. The Orioles versus Angels game was even rained out for two and a half hours, we were surprised they even continued. We're planning on visiting DC tomorrow depending on the weather and the just winding down for a couple of days before heading home.
