I left Perth at 8 in the morning and arrived smoothly in Adelaide at 1.20 pm local time (2.5 hours ahead of Perth). It was an easy ride to the hostel from the airport. After I checked in, made my bed and tossed my belongings into the locker, I set out to walk around the CBD to see as much as possible. The museums all closed at 5, so I had to be selective. I bypassed the museum (mostly natural history type exhibits) and went to the art gallery. I really enjoyed this gallery - much more so than the one in Perth. It consisted of a series of "rooms" (about 5 in each row) running parallel to each other. One row was Australian art and the other was foreign art. The rooms start at the 16th and 17th centuries and work to the present. I really enjoyed seeing the progression in artistic style - especially around the 1930s to the present.

I left the art gallery for the National Wine Museum....but I got there a bit too late. I was able to walk through (very quickly) the exhibits and explanations of the process, but I missed the tastings. Oh well. From there, I walked into and through the Botanical Gardens. Several gardens are closed for renovations though, which was a bit disappointing. It was also interesting to see the difference rain makes (comparing NZ botanical gardens to here).

On my way back to the hostel, I found a place safe enough to grab some food for dinner. I had a quiet evening, reading and chatting a bit with two women who were also in the dorm room....it was about politics - shocking, I know :).

It was early to bed....because it was early to rise!
