Well I arrived in Guadalajara yesterday afternoon.  After leaving Sayulita we went back to Puerto Vallarta to catch a bus to Guadalajara.  The bus ride was about 5 hours long, but it was a beautiful drive.  The area between PV and Guadalajara is pure jungle with towns every once in awhile along the way.  The land was very hilly, green, and plush.

Last night was spent at the centro, just enjoying the senery and watching people.  There was an enormous amount of people out and about.  I took some pictures at night and in the daytime of Guadalajara´s most important historical building.......Catedral (Cathedral).  It was an amazing site.  I cannot believe the structure and artistic ability that went into creating these beautiful buildings (I will have pictures of the Catedral attached).  I went into the Catedral last night and sat in on a sermon and admired the inside of the Catedral.  I did not take any photos of the inside last night or today (Sunday) as there were sermon taking place.  Maybe tomorrow.  The insides of many of the churches are breathtaking.

Today a guy that works at the hostel I am staying at (Hostel Guadalajara Centro) took a group of us on a free tour of Murals that are in historical buildings around town.  The murals were all done up in very high ceilings.  Each mural had a specific meaning or representation to Mexican history.

One of the buildings that had murals in it used to be a jail, insane asylum, and an orphan house.  They said that at one time they were housing 3000 orphan children....WOW!!   The boys and girls were separated within the building.  The girls would be taught how to cook, clean, sew,....etc.  The boys would learn how to make items with tools and to use those tools to create a career or life from.  All the children would have their heads shaved to prevent the transfer of lice.

Later tonight there is a local music concert taking place.  This group is supposed to be quite amazing and uses various instruments from around the world.  I will definitely be there.  I have been wanting to try to create a short video, so maybe I can do that tonight and share some of the music with you.

Until next time!

Buenas Tardes!
