Where I stayed
Most of the time was spent just chilling on the beach and treking around but we did have a go at fishing which was a bit of a disapointment, we were using just a hook and wieght and then casting out onto massive amounts of rocks. I lost about 4 lots of tackle and then gave up.....then we went to the river mouth and caught lots of weed and shit but managed to have fun sitting up against a log and catching the sun. Our last night was pretty funny. When we arrived at the hostel we played Monai (bar dude) and Simon (guy who owns the place) at pool and won. I think it must have been luck because we never beat them again all week and it was starting to get very annoying! So on our last night they decide to challenge us at a best of 5 game and the loosers have to pay for the winners drinks for the rest of the night. After the previous nights I wasn't to up for it but we ended up agreeing, not sure why after our track record, I suppose we just couldnt refuse. Buy some random chance (or skill!!) we ended up winning 3-1!! Whooohoooo!!! Free drinks all night! There was a couple of Canadian girls who were also on thier last night and we all ended up playing this stupid card game which resulted in me and luke sitting there with nothing but a hat to cover the essential parts (photos soon.....maybe)and 1 of the girls with no top on and the other in her underwear. And then to make matters worse I had to drink the nasty mix at the end, I think it was because I picked up the last 8 of the pack or something, I don't know... it's a stupid game anyway!
After the 7days I would highly recommend staying at Wildside!! We managed to get stuck and probably could have quite happily stayed if we didn't feel like we should move on. The staff are all friendly, the hostel is literally right on the beach and the sunsets are amazing (and simons cooking is lacca!!!). One slight hassle is the drive to main town but they run a little shuttle a few times a day so it's not a big deal. All in all a good time although we're really gonna have to sort out this drinking thing, it's starting to get expensive.
Last night we stayed on the Santos express in Mossel bay which is a hostel made out of a train. It's pretty nicley done but not really that good compared to the more friendly hostel atmosphere and the rooms are a bit small and shit so we're moving on to Hermanus today which is pretty much next door to Cape Town, i'll keep you updated!
