I finally made it down to San Jose after a nightmare bus journey.
I came from Honduras thinking my ticket was all the way through,
direct, to San Jose, so i figured i be here by the same evening
considering i left at 5am, but i had to stop off in Nicaragua for one
night and then wake up AGAIN at 4 the next morning to get another 10
hour bus.  So obviously the thing to do in that situation is go
out drinking till 11pm right?  Right!  Well wrong really but
thats what happened.

I randomly bumped into this American chap and it turned out it was his
birthday, so after i got a bit of food we ended up sitting on the side
of the road at this little place drinking beer and jabbering about
crap.  A little group of local guys were wondering around with
their guitars and shakers playing music for people and i managed to
jump on the shakers and have a little jam with them.  This other
guy that i briefly bumped into at the hotel wondered past and joined
us.  It turns out he was a Vietnam vet and had half his ear, 4
toes and a chunk of his shoulder blown off!  I felt a bit guilty
for asking him about the ear at first but once he got talking he
wouldn't stop.  "Back in Naaam!".  Interesting to hear about
his experiences though, Ive never met anyone who actually went there
before and he was quite cool.  Although he ended up getting a bit
drunk and i had to run after him into some random streets and take him
back to the hotel.  Fun Fun.

So as you can imagine the bus journey the next day was pure pain.
It was one of those journeys where you start developing a deep hatred
for everyone around you and the pain they are causing you by making
even the slightest sound.  I got woken up and moved seats 3 times
before 6am and then got stuck next to the front door.  Its amazing
how many people think it fine to just lean their bags on you head while
they're standing in the aisle... truly amazing.

I also got lost in San Jose today, i started walking to the main road,
Avienda Central, and on the way there somehow ended up doing a complete
loop so i ended up approaching the road from the north instead of the
south, i blame it on this little market thing completely.  So
basically when i thought i was walking down the road heading east, i
was actually heading west, and i didn't figure this out until id almost
gone completely mad and then finally arrived at the bus station that i
arrived at.... which is completely on the other side of town from my
hostel.  You can imagine the moment when it suddenly drops?
When your expecting to walk up to your hostel any minute and then
suddenly find yourself and hour in the wrong direction.  I'm
normally really good at directions as well so i had to go drown my
sorrows in a bar for a while to recover, and also because my feet are
totally raw.  I made it back in the end though and just finished a
nice hammock session....mmmmmmmmmmm!  Feeling much better now.

Possiblly getting the bus down to Jaco tommorow, or any other bus to
the beach, which is only 2 hours away.  See how it goes.

Bye for now
