Just a quick update on today as i probably won't get round to remembering it after tommorow. I have to be ready for the bus to pick me up at 4am in the morning! My flight isn't till half 8 as well which makes it even worse... thats just they're pick times, evil swine.
Today was pretty good. I made it downtown on the subway and ended up on the coast where all the ferries leave to the liberty statue etc. and thought i might as well head over there and check out the thing up close. I ended up joining in a bit of a guided tour and found out several interesting facts about the statue of liberty, Like the thing she's holding is a key stone, not a bible or the constitution like people normally pressume, and the one that shocked me the most.......... the width of the copper she's made of is only 2 coins thick! So put 2 10p's togeher thats it. Mental considering i thought it was a massive stone sculpture.
The funniest thing i saw by far though was the Jews! Having never really observed any of them up close before i suddenly found myself surrounded by them, making little kosha lunches on the boat with loads of different types of hats on; some of them even looked like those big Russian fur-balls that you see. But the sideburns! They were MASSIVE. Most of them had sideburns that were hanging down their faces and some were even platted, and when i got off the boat a little Jew Kid came up to me with an orange in one hand and what looked like a big sword made out of long grass and a base of leaves and asked me if i was Jewish. I was too confused to really answer him but cant help wondering what would have happened if i did.
After that i checked out the WTC site, bit sad really but it looks like they're all getting on with it and now im heading off to bed and dreading 3am.
