Well I've finally booked a ticket out of the hostel and just about time too. That place is deadly and i think i've discovered the physical limits that my body can withstand with regards to general partying and drinking.
Although i love Toronto it seems I've ran out of interesting things to find and normally just roam around the streets looking for chaos, which is always in abundant supply. So Yesterday I hopped in the bus with 'Moose Travel' and for $50 had a whole day trip up to Niagra Falls. People had told me it wasn't that great so my expectations were low but i thought it's one of those things you just have to see, a bit like when you drive past an accident and have to look, but then regret it later. You can't 'un-see' things after all. But.... I was supprised and loved it! The trip took us to the falls where we hung around for a bit, then we headed off to a few other look out points, some whirl pool rapids that come into life when the river makes a 90 degree bend which creates level 6 rapids and a huge whirlpool effect. They wouldn't let me take a swim in it.
Then we headed back to the falls VIA a wine tasting session where they tried to flog us expensive but tasty wine. A few switzerland girls on the bus were quite funny, one in particular didn't pay the $5 dollers for the wine but snuck around the side and stole a glass then nipped into the field and grabbed a bunch of grapes! She was also a total lightweight so after that little glass and one drink in the niagra town was sumbling around shouting 'smirnof!' crazy...
So Nigra was best seen on the little boat that takes you right up the impact zone at the bottom. They give you big blue bin sack things to wear that are hard to put on and make you look like your being eaten by a big blue jellyfish with a niarga falls tatto on it's belly. I almost didnt wear mine but was glad i did; you get absolutly soaked! Then at 8pm they give you some lights on the falls which change colour and make everyone go 'ooooo' and 'ahhhhhhhh' and reach like maniacs for the cameras.
All in all a good day, although part of me did wander, when i was standing there watching the water, that it would have been a bit more special if i have to wander through a jungle to find it and if there also wasn't a starbucks and street full of haunted house attractions 2 seconds over the road. Well i guess you've just got to execpt that for what it is and at least i can tick it off the list.
Booked a ticket for Mexico now so got to find a way to New York by next wednesday. Mmmmmm i love 13 hour bus journeys about as much as i love R'n'b and fluffy dogs with black eyes.
Bye for now. Maybe some photos soon.
