We had a long drive through eastern Oregon. Hwy 20 is a real boring 2 lane hwy. Very few passing lanes. Almost nothing to look at. One stretch we drove over 100 miles without even passing through the smallest of towns. At one point I got Vonnie's attention...."Hey. Check it out. There are some trees over there." Violet actually decided to stay awake for this drive.... one of the worst of the whole trip! We've driven through canyons and mountain ranges, beach towns and beautiful coastlines on this trip. She would be in the backseat playing on her iPod or sleeping. She's amped up because she knows we are getting closer to home and she will see her cousins tomorrow.

We pulled off for a few minutes, in a town called Burns, to fuel up and make some sandwiches. For the first time in 2 months we are back into our Pacific time zone....a reminder that our roadtrip is almost over. We were saying...."We only have a week and a half left of vacation." Then laugh because normally a week off would be a long vacation for us. It really puts things in perspective.

We didn't know where we would stay tonight. We could make Grants Pass by 9pm if we wanted to push through. After some texting to my brother, Todd, who resides in Grants Pass, we decided we would pull off and stay the night somewhere outside of Bend. The plan is to meet up with him and his family tomorrow afternoon, down in Prospect, to have some lunch and do some hiking around and maybe swimming. We found a discounted ($10 or $12 for full hookups) RV campground in Crescent, about an hour past Bend. We pulled in here about 6, made up some dinner, played some pass-back and, later, got bombarded by mosquitoes.

note: I applied 2 coats of wax to the front cap of this trailer before we left on our trip. I managed to keep it pretty clear of splattered bugs for the 1st month and a half. In the last couple of weeks It's gotten hammered. It will take some work to get this thing clean again.

also.... looking at some of these photos of myself I'm noticing that I'm in desperate need of a haircut.

Welcome back to pacific coast time!

Tona on

Glad you made it back close to home safe and sound. I suppose you're still in Oregon, as I checked Vonnie's GPS status and it shows you're in the ocean near Africa, so that tells me you're most likely still at DADS, ha! no reception. Talk to ya soon.
