Von and Violet stayed behind today and hung at the pool while I drove to check out Red Rock Canyon. It is a national conservation area about 1/2 hour from Las Vegas. (I left Chula behind cuz I didn't know if dogs were allowed. It turns out that they are.) I've been to Vegas many times, mainly to party and gamble, but I've never really checked out the sights in the area. This place is worth the short drive out of town. It costs $7 per car and they have it set up so that you drive a 13 mile loop through the park. There are parking lots along the way to stop at with tons of trail heads branching off. There are some off-road trails as well that I drove the truck back into for a couple miles. In one of the short videos I posted, I hike up to this vertical rock face. I ran into some climbers up in there and later read that the park is pretty popular for rock climbers. In one of the photos I tried to show some petroglyphs I saw along the side of a rock. I read that there are many of these visible throughout the park and some are thousands of years old!

that place looks killer, there is a lot of that cool scenery when you get over to Zion and Lake Powell area. Don't forget to check out Lower Antelope Valley, the slot canyon near Powell, you won't be dissapointed.
