None of this stuff was here 10 years ago (my last visit to Fontana). The skatepark is pay-to-play, like $25 a year or $7 a month, but worth it in my opinion. Among other things, it's got 2 really nice pools and a big flow bowl. The big pool is peanut shaped and looks to be about 11ft deep. Super smooth, big transitions. Enough about that. Us 2 old guys rolled around for a while and Mike's got some good lines. Back at the house the famous Mike Mathews' tri tip was bbq'd and we had a real good meal. Damned good tri tip too.
Mike and Danielle have a baby (baby Michael) due in a couple of months and we're really stoked for them. We had a great visit with them. Mike is off to Chicago, for business, today and we'll peel off back toward the coast to meet up with Jason (Farth) and April. Mike travels a lot on business so we hope to run into him again in some part of the US over the next couple of months.
We got out of the RV park about 11:00 and headed toward Fontana to hang with Mike and Danielle for the night. Stopped along the way for a grocery run and pulled up to Mike's house around 2:00. Mike had a cold beer waiting for us! That's hospitality! We visited for a while then Mike took me to his local skatepark only 1/2 a mile down the road. They built a real nice area in Fontana including a dog park, swimming pool, racket ball, volleyball and a sweet new skatepark.
