The Presido is a place in history where Spanish soldiers lived. There are several base type areas where you can see how the soldiers used to live. There are even barracks which may have been used to house California Indians who were forced to do work for the soldiers. There is a massive graveyard filled with mostly soldiers and there is even an old cannon in front of the gates. The Presidio does have an interesting history, and i had a nice time visiting it. I recommend visiting this area if you are familiar with the history of it, its a better trip when you can make historical connections.
The Pictures you will see for this entry are of me at the gates of the Presidio. The Presidio is like a little community and to get in you must go through this big gate that is surrounded by brick wall. In front of the brick wall is a plack that explains the Presidio briefly and there is an old cannon there. I liked posing with the cannon because it really gave a reality to the place and made it easier to associate it with the Spanish period in California.
