521 Miles Today: Greetings from Alaska!!  Today was a big day for us. We got up this morning after a good nights sleep at camp Cleveland. We discussed which way we should go. After talking to another biker who had just come from Dawson City, and across the Top of the world highway. He told us the road was in very bad shape. So we checked the weather forecast and it called for rain for the next 2 days in Dawson City. We decided to head straight to Alaska.

We rode through the worst road I have ever seen. Someone told us at one of our fuel stops that there was some bad road coming up. Well up to that point the bad road we encountered consisted of gravel patches and frost heaves. The stuff we rode through today consisted of giant ruts, total breaks in the asphalt. and frost heaves that would launch us into the air off our seats, and to make thing worse the Sky's opened up on us which made it more difficult to see where we were going. This went on for 80 miles. Now the really bad part of all this is that we have to go back that way when we go to Hains to catch our Ferry.

When we got to the Welcome to Alaska sign the sun was so bright behind the sign that we couldn't get a good picture. We got through the border and on the other side was about 25 miles of construction. All gravel. But we plugged away at it and arrived in the town of Tok after about 10 grueling hours on the bikes.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the kind words and support during our journey. We have had a couple tough stressful days and reading the text messages as well as emails during our fuel stops seems to pick everyone back up again. Alot has happened during our 4300 miles. There will be alot of stories to tell.

Tomorrow we head to Fairbanks We are going to  the Harley Dealer to get our oil changed and have the bikes checked out for the big push to the Arctic Circle.
