What I wrote in my Journal:

Twas' the night before Oktoberfest, and all through the Hotel not a creature was sturing not even a mouse. Our Outfits for the day were all layed out with care, in hopes of not having our underwear ripped off by big Australian Men. We dreampt of the flow of beer dancing like sugar plumbs through the air. It shall be a grand day. Ciao.

****Aftermath******
If you have ever considered going to Oktoberfest, i would recomend it as something you do before you die. It was the biggest party that i will ever go to. For 14 hours all we did was drink, eat good german food (chicken, pretzels, sausage), dance, and be merry.I went into the HBH Tent at 9 am and didn't leave until 11pm. A good time was had by all.

A few things about Oktoberfest.

Things About Oktoberfest:
During the 16 days of the Wiesn, around six million visitors attend the largest festival in the world. Almost 5,700,000 litres of beer were served, and more than 350,000 chickens and 87 oxen consumed.

History About Oktoberfest:

Once upon a time, long long ago in a far away land known as Bavaria, a Crown Prince - who later became King Ludwig I - married the beautiful Princess Therese von Sachesen-Hildenburghausen. The loyal soldiers in the Prince's National Guard thought that the horse races would be a most fiting way to celebrate the happy event. King Max, proud father of the Prince, gave his consent to the races and so they became the finale of five days of wedding festivities on October 17, 1810. This was the unlikely beginning of Oktoberfest.

The horse races became an annual event and were combined with the state agricultural fair the following year. It wasn't intil 1818, that booths, serving food and drink, were set up at the event. In the late 1800's, the booths had grown into large beer halls or tents, which are still set up each year on the Theresienwiese named in honor of Ludwig's bride.

Today, a large mid-way and fair accompany Oktoberfest in Munich, the largest celebration of its kind in the world. The festival extends for two weeks and ends on the first Sunday of October.

In Kitchener-Waterloo, Oktoberfest was not established by royal decree, but with a nobel motive just the same. In 1969, the founding fathers of K-W Oktoberfest saw this Bavarian tradition celebrated at the famous Concordia Club in Kitchener as an excellent opportunity. An opportunity to benefit the entire community by becoming a civic festival that celebrated local German Canadian heritage. In 32 years, K-W Oktoberfest has developed its own traditions, becoming the largest Bavarian festival in North America with the greatest Thanksgiving Day Parade in Canada.
