And spent a nice evening in Thakhek, which turned out to be much more lively after dark. Had a little chat with a vendor girl, with the help of my very useful Point It booklet. That booklet has proved very helpful and fun at times!
The hotel I chose this time in order to be in the centre and near the river, was really crappy. Loud Karaoke noise all night, they had only rooms with TV so extra expensive but the TC didn't work, nor did the toilet flush. And if you used the sink, the water splashed right onto your feat. I asked fo a discount afterwards but got the usual reply... "The boss isn't here right now". Oh well... at least it was in a nice location.

I don't understand why you dont ever party...You only get angry when you're around the people who are. Why not join them? Sure..Us westerners have a different way of doing things, but obiviousley the east doesnt mind it that much or they would cateter to westerners the way they do.
Other than that, I enjoyed reading your blog and absolutely loved your pictures.
