Where I stayed
Everyone slept well except me- I am tired! There was no hot water for my shower this morning either as we are sharing the hotel with a touring group of about 60 teenagers! Breakfast in the hotel was busy because of all the kids but the coffee was good. It reminded me of when Jessye and Taya's ringette team invades a hotel and I see some poor tourist trying to get their toast- we were the poor tourists this morning!
Below are some pictures of our hotel including the fabulous view from our room- NOT! I don't think this is actually a particularly great part of town. There are a lot of immigrant men loitering about looking bored and unemployed. At one point, when out looking for a restaurant, I noted that there were no women at all on the street we were walking- only men hanging outside the shops smoking.
We are getting ready to take a train to Gembloux- a small town outside of Brussels. It will take about an hour on the train. We will meet up with the other Canadians there that have come for the weekend memorial activities. May 6 is Liberation Day here.
