I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on July 23rd and love it. I have spent most of my time just walking the streets and talking with locals, travellers, and expats. The city is beautiful and clean. The temperature just right, with a cool rain that comes every so often. People are very friendly and the food is excellent. I soon start a bicycle tour that will take me from south to north Vietnam and look forward to getting some real, consistent exercise and seeing the countryside.
In order to prepare for the trip, I purchased two shirts and a pair of cargo pants (as I am down to one pair of pants now). There is a vast difference in sizes here. An American XS is equivalent to a Vietnamese XL!
I also witnessed a motorbike accident. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured (no blood). I rushed over and offered Tiger Balm - all I had. The participants seemed grateful and put it on the victim's swollen ankle. Then they all rode away. What to do?
