Today we went to Laguna San Rafael National Park to see the San Valentin Glacier. Our boat went into a channel as far as it could, then we boarded smaller catamarans to get right close to the glacier. The catamaran took about 50 people at a time and ferried back and forth all day. Really quite amazing. The glacier is the closest one there is to the equator (farthest one from either the north or south pole). Scale is hard to get in the photos, it's about 2 miles wide. There were lots of cool icebergs as we got closer to the glacier and we saw a few pieces "calving" or falling off, makes a big noise like a gunshot.

Are the glaciers ever blue! Beautiful! We did the Athabasca glacier and very little of the blue showed through.
