Kathleen and I went to the Bled tourist office and decided on a private room just out of town (less than a mile). We had a little deck all to ourselves, with views of the surrounding mountains.
The little pizza place by the bus stop quickly became our favorite when-in-doubt restaurant. The sevice was mediocre, but the pizza and fried cheese were great! We definitely preferred this place to the fly-infested Chinese restuarant (Sorry I can't relive it anymore than this one sentence).
A Bulgarian group performed on the first night of the Okarina Folk Festival. The concerts were held in the open-air middle of an art gallery. They were fantastic! And I thought jazz was complicated... The leader played a small woodwind instrument that sounded a little like an oboe. A storm started to roll in, so Kathleen and I left the concert early and found a little pizza place for some late dinner. The next night it was Musicalia, an Italian folk band. The final concert featured the Tibetan Monks of the Dreping Monastery in India. This was so different from anything I had ever seen in my life. Some of the monks had ten foot long conical horns that sounded vaguely like tubas. Others had various drums and cymbals. The younger monks were featured in traditional dances. Only a few days to go before we have to leave.
