Unimpressive first impression but then, the colonial centre is more then 2k from the main road. Quite a pleasant plaza & nearby streets but had trouble finding a decent hotel that was good value.

Had been looking forward to the gringo owned pizza place but got there to find it was grossly overpriced and offered the same old toppings found in every local place and was unlicensed. Also, as with many of the foreigner owned places I'd been to recently, the owner was unavailable and thereby, the supposed font of local information, was missing - as ever the locals left in charge knew next to nothing!

Wanted, as a beautiful evening, to enjoy a beer outside in the fresh air, but couldn't find a place with reasonably priced local beers i.e. less the $1.50 a pop.

Found a local comedor than would prepare me a simple salad rather than it's usual selection of bland cheese, bean & cream laden baleadas & pupusas. Sadly, when I returned for an early breakfast, the only coffee available was already highly sweetened - why do they do that when they have pots of sugar on the tables?!
