Painless trip to Juigalpa from lush jungle near the coast up to dry windswept cattled hills. The fact there are 45,000+ people in the city are not obvious in the size of the only supermarket nor in the lack of a single cafe/coffee shop.

The setting is pretty with great views over the surrounding buttes & mesas, especially from Palo Solo. Apart from the stelae, the museum was dull and you can see them on the way to the cash desk!

The hotel El Regresso was newly decorated & had nice rooms upstairs, except they didn't use the rooftop water tank and so no water pressure - the nice shower & sink was barely produced a trickle - the owners live downstairs so maybe they're "alright Jack!". The didn't bother to come up with a light/candle when the power went out, so that was the prevailing feeling I think!

Had dinner in a bar overlooking the plaza that I'd discovered had my beer - the "salad" consisted of 2 slices of cucumber & carrot respectively (not high priority for the local drunks I guess!) and the tostones portion a bit mean too but with 2 bits of chicken, what could I expect for $3.50!

Had originally intended to spend more time here expecting a real city but more a provincial town feel, so on I go!
