Easy trip as direct buses from the city and pleasant drive into the hills, but the landscape was not as impressive as Boquete - the Sleeping Indian woman silhouette made by some surrounding hills required a good stretch of the imagination.

By the time I'd had my sancocho for lunch, been to the internet cafe, super & artesanias market before they shut, it was beer time and I had not seen much.

Not impressed with the quality of the hotels available in my price bracket - even less impressed after my appalling night's sleep - when animals weren't running elephant like across the tin roof, when the nearby tree branches weren't being blown noisily against said roof, when the menagerie of dogs, turkeys, cocks etc weren't giving voice and when the millions of mossies weren't buzzing and biting me, it was possible to sleep i.e. I GOT NO SLEEP!

Still, they did have good hot crispy hojaldres (the wheat flour flat fried dough patties), properly fried eggs and good coffee for breakfast.

Yesterdays purchases got sent back to England at huge expense - mail here is no cheaper than elsewhere in Central America - it's really annoying when the post cost more than the souvenir (though I beat him down by about $5) - will not be sending any more stuff!
