Needed to take short trip into Guatemala to get a new 6 month visa for Mexico. Had intended to take a more scenic route to Guatemala via 2 lots of little visited ruins, Bonampak and Yaxchilan, but the roads in that part of Guat were flooded due to recent heavy rains.
Entrusted my luggage to the hostel which is run by a 12 year old so I hope it is still there when I return!
Wanted to see the Lagos de Montobello which are about 2 hours from the border, so decided to have the tour company drop me in Comitan after the trip so I had less travel time to the border the next day. The lakes were OK and the trip was combined with some OK caves and an amazing waterfall, El Chiflon - everyone was completely soaked by huge quantities of spray and I didn't even get too the last viewing platform as I was afraid the camera would be ruined.
Comitan, where I stayed overnight, is a small colonial town that doesn't see many tourists.
