Eventually got here - everyone who comes does a tour or has their own transport and now I know why! - combi to nearby town, bus to crucero, bus to another crucero, force a first class bus to change it's route to drop me off (they took a lot of persuading!) at yet another crucero - from there it was 3k's to the village - after 1/2 hour gave up on a bus & hitched a ride in the back of a rubble filled pick up.
The driver kindly dropped me off at the one hotel still operating where I brushed myself off! First hotel yet I'd been asked for a deposit for damages - room would be checked on departure - guess some people take home those hideous synthetic flowery bed covers or cheap chipped ashtrays!! My early departure (7am bus) the next day didn't deter her!
Another pretty little colonial Pueblo Magico but with little to commend it - the 2 restaurants, which were the only place to buy beer, one closed all day, one at 5pm!!
Found a liitle comedor - someone's front room but with a fruit machine & ever present football on TV. Food would have been OK but the puppy had obviously pissed in one corner, so it was hard to appreciate it in the circumstances!
For such a quiet little village, I'd have expected a quiet night's sleep - NOT! It's location, a few k's off the main drag in a basin in some steep winding hills, meant hideous lorry noise all night long - doesn't appear to be any MOT or similar in Mexico and many vehicles look & sound like they should be on the scrapheap.
