Finally, to the beach - Acapulco beckoned enticingly! As ever, I have to stay downtown where all the crummy, cheap hotels are, though generally that means more local character & noise. The 1st hotel was right in the thick of it & had to move somewhere quieter - as it was I'd already moved rooms - another hotel built by a man - many of the rooms had big windows in the showers as low as waist height and no window covering - I know the Mexicans are generally shorter but even so all the women would have been flashing their tits!
The small in-town beaches, though pretty enough from a distance, suffered from the usual rubbish, broken glass, fish bones & not very clean/clear water, but the views, across the bay/the sunset from downtown/marina looking to the posh high rises, were great.
Took a boat ride to Isla Roqueta for a decent beach & some snorkelling, then back to watch the sunset - they have built a big amphitheatre on the top of a cliff over the ocean so you can watch the sunset in style. Later it was time for the Clavadistas - they really spin out the performance, trying to build it up as much as possible, with lots of false starts and it is over so quick, filming it was a challenge.
