On Sunday morning, we all went different ways with our host families to different churches that had a variety of worship styles.

Many of us attended an outdoor service that was held by Christengemeente Tholen (Community of Christ in Tholen). The service was geared mostly to the little kids. (They had a puppet show as part of the message.) It opened with a time of singing; they did songs in both Dutch and English. We all sat together on one side, and Nel and another Dutch girl translated a lot of it into English for us. (Hope it didn't bother everybody else too much.)

The worship time was followed by a BBQ where they grilled sausages and kabobs, plus all the people had brought salads from home. (It reminded me very much of our Strawberry Festival / church picnic days we've had at home.) Some of the kids got together to sing, while many of the boys (Americans and Dutch) threw around an American football.

Later, on Sunday evening, we attended a youth service at a Reformed church in town that reminded me very much of a church service at home. Organ music before and after, some hymns, and they had an excellent choir of (mostly young) people who did four different numbers at different times in the servce. After that we all got together for awhile to let the American and Dutch kids share about what we had found different and/or surpising about both the country and the different worship experiences we had participated in.

Thanks for the updates. It's so great to hear what you are all up to. And love the pictures! Everyone looks so chilly! Hope you all have enough sweatshirts.
We certainly missed you all tonight at the first night of VBS.....
Have a great time. Which kid is learning the most Dutch?

Thanks Jeff for adding things to the website blog. I have enjoyed the pictures and the info on what is happening. Sounds like you are having fun....and keeping busy. Looking forward to the next group of things.

Take care and say 'hi' to the Bridgebuilders. God bless, Peg
