Day 1 & 2: "A Lesson in Flexibility"

The group started off with much excitement as we boarded the plane Thursday evening. However, our lesson in flexibility began early, as our flight out of Philadelphia sat on the runway for about an hour.

Of course with flexibility comes the extra need for patience. But, this was a challenge as we all tried to cope with lack of sleep and a big time difference (6 Hours from Philly to London). Some of us, like Nate and Sarah had next to no trouble donning stylish eye masks and catching a snooze on the flight, while most of us struggled to sleep. Others, like Andy, just enjoyed trying on the free socks that are provided to all British Airways passengers.

Shortly after landing in London, we raced to meet our connecting flight, but soon found out that we were too late (despite our best attempts to run through the airport). The airline was able to get our whole group on another flight, but that was and hour and half after our missed flight. Luckily, Sarah "sweet talked" the airline into recompensing our woe with airport food vouchers. Each person received a voucher for 5 pounds worth of food (British Pounds, that is).

Finally, we set off, and uneventfully landed in Amsterdam! Praise the Lord! Unfortunately, not all of our luggage came with us. About half the group's luggage was left in London. From here we had to fill out many forms in order to arrange for the delayed luggage delivery.

Because of our many delays we missed out on seeing Amsterdam and the Windmills, but the group wasn't too disappointed because those extra trips meant extra bus travel! Despite the pitfalls, the group remains optimistic with smiles on their faces and friendly words for our new Dutch friends. We even got to meet Idwer's family!

Wish us luck, and keep praying for us!
