Things here are about the same as ast I wrote. I have been trying to figure out what I am still doing traveling. I have been going nuts at the hostal. I have been wanting to trash several of the guys and I realized that it may be time to get out of the hostel. So, I took off on Monday morning to a town called Salento. It is in the coffee region (Too bad I don't drink coffee). The city, if you can call it that, is about 7+ hours away from Medellin out in the country. It is amazing.
After being on the bus for 7 hours or so, my frined Michael and I were dropped off on a highway along with a couple from Germany. We were told to cross the highway and catch a small bus into town. So, we crossed the hwy and waited about 10 minutes until the bus showed up. We all 4 piled into the little bus that was already full and headed into Salento. After checking into our hostel, we went out to eat and see the town.
After a $3.00 meal and a coke, we headed up a giant staircase to watch the sunset. It was really nice and relaxing. We were not in Medellin anymore and had plenty of room to breath. After the sun went down, we walked around the town a little bit and headed back to the hostel to go to bed early. I hit the bed at 8:30pm. I watched a movie and was asleep by 10:00. Ahhhhhhhh. Sleep is something I needed. On Tuesday we checked out of our hostel and went to another hostel. I had my own room for $10.00 a night. After wandering for a while I took a nap. Something I never do! Other than eating, Tuesda was a throw-a-way day. Wednesday was incredible. I was up at 6:30am and got dressed for a hike. 7:30am about 11 of us filled up a jeep and headed to this park. Now, 3 of us (including me) were hanging off the back of the jeep on a little platform and held on to the canvas top frame for 5 kilometers. Not the safest ride I have been on. We made it to the park and started the hike. I had no idea how far we were going , how long it would take, and what I was going to see. Well, it took 6 hours, we walked about 12 kilometers (up hill) to 2860 meters, and I saw the most incredible landscape I have seen in a long time. Mike and I set off behind the other couple and they left us in the dust. We walked, took pictures and tried to avoid the horse apples on the trail. It was early but the su was already out and we were in a hurry to get into the forrest. As soon as we hit the forrest part, the temprature fell about 5-7 degrees. Ahhhhhhhh. About 5 minutes into the forrest part, we found a small waterfall and climbed down to see it, There, we hooked up with 3 girls that were trailing behind us. We all ended up walking together for the next hour until Mike and I split up. He went on to a coffee farm while I opted to head off with the girls back to the entrance to the park. This part of the trip about killed me. It was up hill for 7K. After the walk, I had an incredible Rainbow trout meal. Yum!! After the walk, I just relaxed all day and crashed out.
Thursday, we went to this working coffee farm, took some pictures and I headed for the bus station. I was going to stay in the next town over but when I arrived I got a weird feeling from the city so I waited for the next bus to Medellin. After 7 hours on a bus, I arrived back at my home away from home.
Next up is the Christmas lights!!!!!!!
