We delivered the first set of Will James Books to the Dillon Elementary / Middle School at 9 AM. A reporter from the Dillon Tribune was there to report on this historic event. We got two students into the library for a photo-op. Both students are currently reading Smoky so that is kind of cool. The librarian was extremely upbeat and Dillon is a big ranching community so this was an ideal location to deliver a set of books.
We had an 11 AM appointment with the Dillon Public Library so we went to breakfast to kill time between deliveries. It turned out to be time well spent, once again, at Sparky's Garage. We delivered the set of books to the Dillon Public Library and had another photo-op. This time with the Library Director and a Library Board Member. We discovered that April is National Poetry Month. Then we took advantage of the library's wi-fi and caught up, - on what?
This afternoon we back-tracked about 20 miles and went to see Bannack, a ghost town that is now a Montana State Park. It is the largest ghost town in Montana with over 40 buildings remaining. The last person(s) lived there in the 1960's. Bannack was the first Montana Territorial capital and the area where gold was first discovered in Montana.
Returned to Dillon and met up with our fishing guide (Tom Cornell) for the next four days. We had dinner together at a local mexican food restaurant and made plans for tomorrow when we float the Beaverhead River.
