We are excited about going to Lion Country Safari. You sit in your car and drive through a safari park. Lion Country Safari was founded in 1967 and claims to be the first "cageless zoo" in the United States. In 2009, USA Travel Guide named Lion Country Safari to be the third best zoo in the US. We listen to an audiotape telling us about the animals we are viewing. Some animals are free roaming and come right up to the car. Other animals, such as the lions and chimpanzees are behind fences or water barriers.

We had to drive some distance to get to the Fort Lauderdale Duck Tour. Again, we quacked, quacked, quacked. This is a 90 minute tour of Las Olas Boulevard and Old Fort Lauderdale Village. Then, into the water to see the homes built on the canals. Fort Lauderdale is considered "The Venice of the Americas." Some of the famous people who own or owned homes here are Adam Sandler, Dwayne Johnson, Lucille Ball, Sonny and Cher, and Benny Binion (owner of The Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas prior to his death).

Our last stop for the day is Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show. This is well worth it. The shows are changed every year. There is a garden to walk through outside the restaurant while you are waiting for your food and the show.
