Anyway, we had a coffee at the fairly decent café there (Andrew witnessed some blatant shoplifting from someone he was chatting to) and then boarded. Uneventful flight.
Alex and Jindriska picked us up and we were on the road to the countryside (via the Hypermarket) immediately. It doesn't feel like a year since we'd been here, we pretty much picked up where we left off (my Czech certainly hasn't developed in the interceding year!). I don't know exactly where we went (we were about 40 minutes out of Prague) but it was on the banks of the Sasava that we stopped, and walked down a treacherous little path to Majka's gorgeous little weekender
A typical European afternoon of wine and food followed, and I compensated with my inability to converse by putting away the wine (convincing myself it's a sign of enjoyment to do thus) and getting quietly trolleyed. Not a bad start to our stay.
Majka's place is on the edge of a walking track, and it was quite the multicultural parade of canoeists or walkers who wandered past our verandah and said 'Ahoj!' (see, I am learning!) and often stopped for a chat, revealing where they were from, what they were doing, how many kabillion languages they spoke...
Eventually as the evening wore on (but it's not like it was getting dark, darkness falls SO late this time of year here, and in London) the boys decided to go for a walk to look for shops. Didn't find any, but it probably served as a useful break from drinking for me. My photographs from this walk reflect ...well, they reflect very little that is recognizable.
Let's just say that by the time we made it back to the city, I was very glad for bed. Majka's apartment is spacious and filled with all sorts of interesting paraphernalia, so it is definitely going to be a pleasant stay.
