Port Maqcuirie appears pretty similar to Coff's Harbour on the surface - a smallish New South Wales coastal town - with a beach and a harbour and a town centre, very pleasant. Only thing is in Coff's there is absolutely loads of things to do... and in Port M, not so much! We only spent 2 nights here and did go for a great boogie board on the beach and caught some waves and met some lovely people in our hostel. We also saw advertised a group of science guys who in their spare time do talks about the night sky and we went to their tiny hut in the city and listened to a fab lecture on astronomy and saw some great computer generated pics of the planets and stars, so interesting, I loved it. They showed us where to find Australia's famous Southern Cross, and usually we can have a look through the telescope, but sadly the clouds were building for an absolutley huge storm which began a few hours later and went on into the night - I have never heard thunder like it, or indeed seen lighning light up the sky quite so much in great forks accross the ocean - awesome!
