Yes it is true, I spent the whole afternoon at the beach.  It was a reward.  In the morning I got up and did my first real run (not counting my race) in about 2 1/2 months.  An easy 3 miles down Lummus Park to South Pointe Park and back up the A1A/Collins Ave.  Why is it called the A1A? Anybody else remember that dumb line from Vanilla Ice about cruising the A1A? There were a surprising number of fellow crazy people out running for a Friday morning.  Nice to see all the stuff without the crowds of people. The humidity though was big shock for a guy like me.  It made the stuff we get at home seem like nothing.  The heat index was 95! at 7:30 in the morning.  What is up with that?
So to make up for it, I cooled off in the room for a while and then went to the beach for the rest of the day.  Ah.  The water here is almost too warm.  You really don't cool off in the water like what I am used to.  Plus when you get out even the breeze has to work to dry you off. But I enjoyed my time hanging, watching the people and the surf, what little of it there was.  Being the ever crazy triathlete I am now, I popped on my goggles at one point and did about a .4 open water swim. It is so different swimming in the ocean over flat water.  I was glad to get in some swimming though.
In the evening I got back just in time to beat out the monster thunderstorm.  It brought down some serious rain.  Or at least what appeared to me, serious.  After the storm it cooled to comfortable and I went out to check the scene.  I was once again confronted with the fact that I have outgrown the club scene.  Or perhaps traveling alone, it is not something I want to attack.
Speaking of, when I was wandering about, I saw things I should not have seen.  Ladies, just because they make a size 0 does not mean you should be wearing it.  And tight does not mean classy.  That goes for you too, guys.  Please, I saw plenty of that on the beach.
