More benders, late night unsactioned favella tours, the arrival of the most interesting room mate, hang gliding from the site where it all began and a massive Samba street party - busy days in Rio...

The 3rd of January spelt the end of a month and a half of travelling with four good mates.  Ofcourse there was a send off the night before, a samba club where Rossy once again displayed that he was the "Samba King" although this time kept his pants on!  Looking back it has been one hell time.  From the deserts of Bolivia to the trails of Peru, from Chirstmas in BA to Rio beaches for NYE, so many stories and memories.  I know at times I might have been more than a little loose and may have been the little devil on a few mates shoulders but guys, it has truely been awesome - thanks.

After nearly six months on the road I have met a lot of people, from more than a few countries but no one compares to one of my current room mates.  Zeno - the Emperor of Zogg, a planet far far away is something else.  Mate your stories each morning from the night previous have been a source of constant amusement, to have you along on such missions as the favella tour has been something I know all the boys involved will never forget.

With the gang of five disbanded there was every chance of a quiet night or three but that was not going to happen.  Matt, the bloke I met on a "Bucks Night" six years ago in Melbourne and smashed Beunos Aires with, and two Sydney lads, Ed and "Mefloquine affected Michael", ensured there was no respite.  More huge nights, funky clubs even late night favella tours.  Lappa's samba street party was superb - Serena its such a pity that some Americans have the memory of a Goldfish....

The days have been difficult.  The sun has been hiding and you can just feel people getting frustrated that they cant get on the beach.  I have had to wait until yesterday to get the new DTs out in public... again...

Undoubtedly the highlight of the last week has been running down a cliff face, hoping there is a head wind and the hang glider will take off.  Hang gliding was born on the "Beautiful Rock" in one of Rio's massive national parks overlooking Ipanema beach, indeed one of the guys there holds the record for most tandem glides - 16,000 plus (all up he reccons he has spent nearly 3 years of his life in the air).  In my increasingly normal daytime seedy state a split second decision had me in the car and off to the park.  It seems like I blinked and the next thing I was strapped to the glider looking down a ranp and off a cliff face being told to just keep running.  After an endless wait for the head wind to arrive it was run, run, run and away... Absolutely brilliant, flying like a bird, circling the beaches of Rio and a perfect landing.  The list of adrenaline sports are fast getting ticked off - anyone got any suggestions???
