Welcome to Paradise!!!
Isla de Margarita is Carribean Island, Venezuala style and my god it is great. On the flight from Canaima I managed to meet the female version of me - sounds funny but seriously Patricia and I actually think the same, so much so it is scary.
After a night in a dive of a hostel I managed to find a gem of a hotel - swim up bars, buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, all you can drink ######### in the hotel and on the beach - which is 30m away. All for next to nothing - brilliant. So that left nothing to do other than enjoy the beach, the ######### and the food. Indeed I think that first day maybe we enjoyed the Pina Coladas a little too much!!
So the past few days have been a blast. Hose the bar man lets me keep the bar open and serve people for a few extra hours each night - I make a mean Caphrina and Cuba Libre (but I havent quiet mastered the "########" style juggling of spirit bottles - messy). Hocks, you will be happy to hear, I finally got the chance to sing "The Gambler" in a karoke session. Patricia, thanks for letting everyone know it was my "birthday"... lol
I think Patricia summed it up well when after 30 minutes sitting on the beach on her last day she said "theres just too much thinking time, I couldnt do this for too long I would go crazy" - maybe that has been my world for too long.
There were nights of Holdem with a couple of Dutch fellas, who are possibly the only people in the world worse than me at karaoke, even some massive Montecristo cigars. Tomorrow I start my version of the "Amazing Race" - 40 hours to get to Bogata, across the worlds most dangerous border crossing with everyone of my remaining flights hinging on the result
