Mon 8th May
Last early start for a while as we're on the final leg of our journey with Easyrider to Broome. On the way we stopped at 80 Mile Beach to check out the beautiful wide sandy beach and a quick game of windy frisbie! We arrived late afternoon and as it's Monday night, it's Beer & Pizza night for $7. After popping to the shops for supplies and missing out on a trip to Cable Beach for sunset, we sat up with fellow bus mates drinking until the early hours.

Tues 9th May
Nice long lie-in followed by a day of checking the place out, checking email and booking our flight to Darwin for the following Monday, after the 'Staircase to the Moon'event at the weekend.

Wed 10th May
Not a very exciting day. Got up late, did some laundry and then missed the sunset with the next Easyrider bus, but went out until the small hours with our new bus mates.

Thurs 11th May
Another nice slow start to the day. Then after lunch we went down to Cable Beach for a few hours, followed by a camel ride through Hidden Valley and ending on the beach for sunset, our first.

Fri 12th May
We've slipped into 'Broometime' nicely with another late start. We headed into town to visit some jewellers to see what we could do with the pearls we earned working on the pearl farm. We decided to get them set as a nice pair of drop earrings for Cat (not me!). Back at the hostel, after a few hours soaking up the sun by the pool, we hopped on the newly arrived Easyrider bus to Cable Beach for another beautiful sunset. We finished off the day with fish and chips (Barramundi & Snapper) which was very tasty.

Sat 13th May
Woke up quite tired due to noisy neighbours. At 2.30am they came in talking quite loudly, leaving the light on and for over an hour or so one of the girls was drunk and whinging about getting dumped. With the rooms being open planned it affected all 3 rooms, so we all took it in turns to tell them to shut up! On complaining to reception the next morning, they were told any more noise and they would be out. After breakfast we walked into town to collect Cathy's earrings which she absolutely loves. The rest of the afternoon was spent round the pool, then we took a walk to recci the best position for viewing the moon for tomorrow nights staircase phenomenom, dinner then a quick drink and before you know it, it's midnight and time for bed.

Sun 14th May
Woke refreshed from a nice quiet night. It's amazing what the threat of getting kicked out does when the place is fully booked and turning new people away.
As we were given some eggs last night we made some nice pancakes for breakfast then popped down the shops to stock up on a few bits.
At 4.30pm we headed down to the Mangrove Hotel with our bus mates to get a good seat for the 'Staircase to the Moon'. As predicted, at 6.05pm there was a small orange glow rising up from the sea. Within minutes the moon was just resting on top of the horizon and it's glow shone brightlyl over the mudflats creating the illusion of a staircase. It was an amazing experience, made more so with didgeridoo music played in the background, and well worth the weeks wait! Tomorrow Darwin.

Mon 15th May
We had to check out of our room by 9.30am so we got up around 9am. As our flight was at 5.30pm we had the day to hang around, take our time over breakfast, lunch, sit by the pool and chat to our bus mates. Some of whom were leaving with us and some staying.
5.35pm and we're airborn on a Fokker 100 (not the little Fokker but not a big one either!) with Skywest to Darwin. We were quite impressed with the service for a small airline and we even got dinner (on a 1 3/4hr flight, that's good)!
As we lose 1 1/2hrs flying to the Northern Territory, we landed at 8.50pm. By the time we shuttled to the hostel and watched a movie, it was midnight (10.30pm in WA) and thought it best to get some sleep.
