Sat 23rd June cont.

The only visitor centre we could find was in Fort Vancouver National Park. So we went into the bookshop and they could only sell us a map, as Washington State doesn't give away free state maps., We managed to find a small one in the back of a magazine, so that will have to do. As it was still open for half an hour, we wandered down to the fort (another British Fort) and had a quick look around before they closed at 5pm. When we'd done there, we wandered up to the Pearson Field Army Air Corps to have a look at the planes they had outside and have a go in the helicopter that Cat had got me lessons in (see photo). After that excitement, we headed back to the van to decide our next move and decided to drive to Mount Rainier National Park. As it was getting late, we jumped on the interstate until the exit we required. We then drove for an hour or so watching the mist roll in around a lovely sunset. When we arrived at the rest area we planned to stay at, we found that it was closed, so we had to re-think where to stay the night. Luckily, Cat spotted a bar with only a couple of cars park out the back and plenty of room, so we went into to ask and thankfully they let us stay for the night. So we settled in for the night with an episode of The Mentalist, a cup of tea and got off to bed.
