Mon 4th June cont.

Around 11am we arrived into the city of Providence and walked to the State Capitol Building across the street. Once through security, we did a self guided tour of the building along with some noisy school kids. We were left to pretty much walk wherever we liked, so after taking in the lovely inner dome, we wandered around some of the rooms like the library, house chamber and state reception room. From there we walked down to the visitor information office to get a map, then did an audio tour that we'd downloaded. It took us around some fascinating buildings including the majestic vaunderville theatre, now known as Trinity Repertory that has a lovely stained glass ceiling in the foyer. It was shut but we were lucky as they allowed us to have a look inside to take photos. Also on the tour, were a few other theatres, hotels and churches that had been lovingly restored but also some others that were needing some TLC. After that we walked up to Rodger Williams National Memorial, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Williams_National_Memorial then caught the train back to Boston.
