Tues 17th Apr cont.
We arrived into Tegucigalpa around 2pm and as Cat had spotted the Tica bus office a few blocks down we decided to book our next journey to Nicaragua in a few days. Once that was booked, we took a cab to a hotel we'd heard of and checked in. We then had a wander and on the way out we bumped into the German couple we met in Santa Rosa and the cigar factory. After that little reunion we had another wander round looking at the castle like museum on the way to the main square. On the way we stopped at McDonalds for an ice cream and to use their wifi. Also by the national art gallery there were some people in white costs chanting something closely watched by the local police. It turns out that it was a march by the local doctors because the government hadn't given them what they were promised. It all seemed peaceful enough and we found out all about it from a couple of doctors in McDonalds also enjoying an ice cream. After a bit more of a wander, we went back to the hotel to do some planning. Just after dark we headed up the road to a chinese that was recommended and had chop suey for dinner. After dinner we walked back and watched some TV in the lounge. Whilst there, Oggy, that we met in JoAns hostel in San Salvador wandered in, small world. So we sat and chatted for a while then got off to bed around 11pm.
Weds 18th Apr.
Had a bit of a lie in until 9am and walked across the road to buy some milk (Honduras is one of the first places in Central America that has fresh milk from the fridge) for breakfast. After breakfast, we walked up to the cash point to get some cash to pay for our room for tonight. Cash in pocket we walked back to the hotel and paid for our room. Then we wandered to Park Concordia which has some fascinating miniture models of temples, estelas and lakes from the area. Nice park. Then we walked up the hill to Park Leona which has some fantastic views of the city. From there we walked back down the hill, bought a few supplies in the supermarket and went back to the room for a rest. After a nice midday rest and sandwich in our room, we walked down to McDonalds to get an ice cream and use their wifi, again. Email checked, we walked back to the hotel, relaxed for a bit and then showered before heading out for a burger around the corner. However, as is the norm apparently, the rain came down, so we returned to the hotel to grab our waterproofs and then headed back out to McDonalds to check email. Returning to the hotel, we stripped off our wet clothes and then watched some TV until it was time for bed.
Thurs 19th Apr.
Up at 7am and grabbed some milk for breakfast from the shop across the road. At 8am we were ready to leave and caught a taxi to the Tica Bus terminal. At the terminal we checked in and waited for the bus to arrive, boarded and set off out of the city.
