4th Dec. cont.
We arrived in Fairfield and after asking for directions a couple of times, found the Walmart. Unfortunately, as is becoming the custom in California, we were not allowed to park overnight. So, after cooking dinner in their car park, we began the search to find somewhere to park up. In the end, we ended up at a rest area we had seen on the way in, just south of Fairfield. It was really nice, as we had a lovely view of Vallejo all lit up. We settled in for the night and watched an episode of Battlestar Galactica and then hit the hay.
5th Dec.
Got woken up at 3am by Dean asking for the toilet roll so he could run out to the toilets. When he returned, he fell asleep and I just dozed. Bang goes my nights sleep! Got up at 7.30am, had breakfast, took some photos and then headed off to Jelly Belly Candy Factory, back in Fairfield. We arrived just after 9am and jumped on the first tour. It was quite interesting to see how they made their jelly beans and candy and of course, we got to taste some too. Apparently, Very Cherry is the number one jelly bean flavour, followed by Buttered Popcorn and Black Liquorice. Not sure why, myself! I have to say, the simplest flavours were the best for me. Such as, Tangerine or Lemon. Also, they did a Dark Chocolate Orange Slice, yummy! We left the candies behind, jumped back on I-80 and headed south, back to San Jose.
