23rd Nov. cont.

We then set off north along Highway 395 following the mountain range until we reached the junction of the 89, which was where we were heading, to find the pass was closed. Cat then had to make a quick reroute and so we crossed back into Nevada to Gardnerville and then headed back into California on the 88 to rejoin the 89 after the pass. However, there were two more passes we needed to cross but were unsure if they would be open. Luckily for us, they were. Driving over these passes was beautiful and we even managed to catch a view of Lake Tahoe. Once over the mountains we headed south and also descended around 6,000ft. Now it was just a matter of finding a place to park up before it got too dark. After a quick check in McDonalds, we discovered that Sonora had a Walmart, so set forth in search of the big 'W'. Arrived at Walmart and as there were no other campers had to get permission to park. This done, we parked up, cooked dinner and watched another episode of Life before going to bed.

24th Nov.

Up again around 6am and on the road heading to Yosemite National Park. Funny how when we went to sleep there were no other campers, but when we left there were at least another 3 or 4! The drive to the park took us around 2 hours and was up and down in altitude and along a winding road until we arrived at Yosemite Village.
