19th Nov. cont.

Arrived around 3.30pm and headed straight for The Strip so that we could see it in daylight first. We drove down the strip staring out the windows and snapping a few photos here and there. After a while though, the traffic got to us and so we turned off and began the search for an RV park. The first one we tried was ageist as they wouldn't take RV's older than the year 2000. We then found another one and this time we were accepted gladly, so we registered and parked up, cooked dinner, showered and then drove back to The Strip to see it lit up. We returned to the RV park around 1am and went to bed, after having various cards shoved at us offering us girls!

20th Nov.

Had a really nice lie in and had breakfast in bed. Decided to stay another night at the RV park to relax a bit. Around 10am we skyped Cat's parents while still in bed! We then got up, read and relaxed, catching up on the pod, etc. Had a nice slow day and around 4.30pm hopped in the hot tub to unwind. Around 6pm we headed off to the park's casino to have dinner at an all you can eat buffet for $9.99 each, (we were given a discount card) and have a small flutter on the 1c slot machines. It's not like it used to be. Everything is now electronic, there are no one-armed bandits left and you feed in dollars not coins now. We had a limit of $5, (last of the big spenders) and managed to break even, so we left with our $5 still in our pocket. Yeah, we won in Las Vegas! We then returned to Brian and headed back to the Strip to see if we could find a show and managed to get 2 for 1 tickets to Jubilee!, which was supposed to the only 'original' Las Vegas show left. What we didn't realise until we booked the tickets it was a topless show! We wondered around the strip for a bit watching the fountains dance, until it was time for the show. We had really good seats and the show was really cool, but what surprised us, was that only half the ladies were topless, which just made me wonder if the costumes department had run out of money! The show started at around 10.30pm and finished around midnight and so we didn't get back to the RV park until just before 2am as we had another drive along the Strip for more photos and a stop at the welcome to Las Vegas sign, all lit up,

21st Nov.

Up around 9am, showered, had breakfast and packed up the van ready to go. We have enjoyed our time in Las Vegas, but it really does wear you out! We left the RV park around 11.30am, drove down the road, fuelled up and stocked up on supplies and then headed out towards Death Valley. We made a quick stop at the welcome sign again to get it in daylight and then we were on our way. A couple of hours later we stopped for lunch in Red Rock Canyon Park. Another hour or so and we had only made it to Pahrump. We then had to make a decision. It was only about 3pm and the sun would be down by 4.30pm and it was about an hour to Death Valley. Do we now stay in Pahrump, although a bit early to park up or do we continue to Death Valley and hope we make it through in daylight. In the end, we decided to drive to Ash Meadow National Wildlife Refuge and/or Death Valley Junction to see if there was somewhere to park up there and if there wasn't, return to Pahrump. We arrived at the refuge just before 4pm, but discovered that no camping was allowed, so we continued on to Death Valley Junction. This town consisted of one hotel/opera house and another abandoned building. We quickly turned around and returned to Pahrump.
