1st Nov cont.We left the RV park and headed south towards Oklahoma City where we tried to get our hair cut at an hair academy but discovered that they were the same price as a normal salon and decided against it. Instead, we headed into downtown, parked the van in Bass Pro Store's free carpark and caught the free trolley to the National Memorial & Museum. The memorial has been beautifully done and was created after the 1995 bombing here in the city. The site of the memorial is the actual bomb site. They have created a pool where the street was. You can actually stand next to where the van would have been parked which was full of explosives. They have gates at each end of the pool representing the minute before and after the explosion. There are empty chairs representing the people who were killed and a tree that survived the explosion. This explosion really shocked the city and its state. Afterwards we wondered around town for a bit and then caught the trolley to Myriad Botanical Gardens. As we had had lunch at the memorial we just took our time and wandered around the gardens before walking back to the van. We then left OKC and head south towards the Texan state line. We hadn't left OKC until 4pm so it was getting late as we neared the state line. As we drove through Ardmore we spotted a Walmart and decided to stop there for the night. After checking it was OK to overnight, we cooked dinner, watched an episode of Being Human and then went to bed.
