9th Oct.

Woke up around 5am to discover it was still raining. Around 7am, the alarm went off and as it was still raining, if only lightly, we decided to wait it out a bit. At 7.30am we were up and ready to leave, as the rain had eased. We picked up US1 and headed to the Keys, looking for somewhere to stop for breakfast. Around 9am, we pulled into a Visitor Centre and had breakfast there, while there the rain started again. We continued along US1 in the rain for a little while and then it stopped! For the rest of the journey, there were short, light showers but nothing that spoilt the views. We arrived in Key West around midday, managed to find a free parking spot and headed off to the most southern point in continental USA. We also found 0mile of the US1 and passed Ernest Hemmingway's house. After a hour or so being boiled alive, in the now very sunny weather, we got back in Brian and headed out of town to find a nice spot for lunch. After lunch we continued out of the keys, back to Homestead, stopping at McDonalds for a sundae. We arrived at The Home Depot car park we had parked in the previous night around 9pm after filling up. We then chose a nice dark spot and settled in, watching another Being Human episode and then to bed, only to be woken in the early hours by the lights in the car park coming on. Strange!
