25th Sept.

Got up around 7.30am and after breakfast, left around 8.30am heading towards Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans for us and began to rain. After crossing into North Carolina from Virginia, we stopped off at a Visitor Centre to pick up a map and campground information. We decided, due to the weather and discovering that Hurricane Irene had washed away part of the shoreline, to leave this drive until tomorrow and look for a campground instead. The young lady in the Visitor Centre was very helpful and called a couple of close campgrounds to see if they had availability. We then chose the closest and headed off there. After checking in and discovering they were having a half price weekend, (so it was cheaper than we thought), we settled in for a relaxing, but damp afternoon. We managed to get the pod up to date and researched a few other things. As we were at a campsite we had BBQ ribs, cooked on our BBQ and smores for dessert, then watched a film and the first episode in the 6th series of Desperate Housewives and had an early night. Hopefully, the weather might be a little better tomorrow.

26th Sept.

Had a lie in until 8am and then had breakfast and put some laundry on. While turning off the gas Dean noticed that the front drivers side tyre had a nasty hole in it so we changed it for the spare. We then took the van for a test drive around the campsite. Previously, we had had a sway in the front end and a vibration, after changing the bad tyre, the vibration had disappeared and the sway seemed to have disappeared. We left the campsite around 11.30am, a little later than the 11am checkout time, as we were waiting for our clothes to finish in the dryer. However, when we got them out they were still damp, so we had to hang them all over the van to try and dry them through the day.
