29th Aug cont.

Around midday, we headed off on a scenic drive around the french countryside (oops Canadian) taking in lovely little villages like Saint Raymond, Saint Catherine de la Jacque Cartier and around Lac Sept-Iles and Lac Beauport. We stopped for lunch a the viewpoint, Mont Laura, where we also had a little snooze to. We were going to stay the night at Walmart on the outskirts of Quebec city, but on arrival we noticed the 'no overnight' signs. So after cooking some dinner we headed back out to Saint Raymond to a car park recommended by the fun, mainly french speaking, tourist information lady earlier in the day. Once parked up in the nice quite car park, we watched a couple of episodes of Desperate Housewives and got off to bed.

30th Aug.

Up at 8.15am, had breakfast and headed off to McD's to use their wi-fi. After catching up with the pod and doing some research we decided to do a little shopping in the supermarket next door. However, as their vegetables were not up to scratch, we chose to leave our shopping until later. By now, it was lunch time. While in McD's earlier, Cat had spyed several people tucking into what looked like french fries covered in cheese, so we decided, as a treat, that's what we would have for lunch, (we haven't had chips for ages). In we went and asked for chips & cheese please. However, as we were in Quebec, they only spoke french so after 10 mins and several, 'no, not a cheeseburger', we finally managed to find out that french fries with cheese and a gravy was called poutine (translates to 'mess'). With poutine in hand, we returned to the van and tucked into a cheesy, gravy chip butty! Fed and watered, we now headed off to Quebec City, in the rain!
