Big Sioux Parking Plaza
21st July cont.
We got back on the highway but this time we were back to MPH and a faster speed of 75 (120kph) which is not only faster than the UK but also Canada. Once we'd whipped down the highway for an hour or so we arrived into Grand Forks and stopped at the truck stop/campground we were spending the night in. It was basically a car park, but we had access to toilets, fresh water and a free dump station out the back. So we settled in, made dinner, washed up and then rested for the evening and got off to bed after watching a bit of Desperate Housewives.
22nd July.
Woke up around 8am still surrounded by RV's and trucks, had beakfast and then headed off around 10am. We thought it best to get the power steering belt tightened as it make a lot of noise, so we went in to a garage and had it done on the spot for $30 and no tax! Whilst we waited, we used their free wi-fi to catch up on email and have a couple of complementary cookies. When they had finished they noted that the power steering fluid was a bit high (thanks Walmart) but adjustment was done and we were able to get on our way. We stopped in on the Visitor Centre and got some advice on routes and things to do (and got more free cookies and a rather nice raspberry drink) then drove south on Highway 29 and didn't stop until Fargo. In Fargo, by the Visitor Centre (that offered free salted popcorn), there is the Fargo Celebrity Walk of Fame where some famous people that you may have heard of (George W Bush, Jethro Tull, Garth Brooks, Bert and Ernie, Bill Gates, Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond to name a few) and some not, signed, had their hand prints and drew some funny faces on the concrete. From there we got on Highway 97 and headed for Jamestown.
