Where I stayed
Celebrity Millennium Cruise Ship
3rd June.
Got up at 7am for an early breakfast and checked out of our cabin at 8. We then had to wait in a designated area until 8.30 and when our number was called we could then leave the ship. It was all rather organised. On dry land we eventually found our luggage and then proceeded to immigration. At the counter, the immigration officer asked us a few questions and looked concerned when we told him that we were un-employed and didn't know how long we wanted to stay in their country. So he marked our paperwork with a red 2 and sent us to the next desk. At the next desk we were directed into the red channel where another officer asked us more questions about how long we were staying, how much money we had to travel with and when did we plan on going home. We replied that we'd should be heading home by Christmas, then he wandered off and we thought oh my! but then he came back with our passports stamped with 6 months until the end of the year! That will do! We made our way out of the cruise ship terminal and into the hotel to use the ATM as we didn't have any Canadian dollars on us. We eventually got some sense from one of the many "helpful" attendants that kept getting in the way and directing us all over the place and walked across the road to the tourist information office to get some info on buses. They gave us a sheet with all the info we needed to catch the bus to Horseshoe Bay to catch the ferry across to Vancouver Island. We only just missed the 10.40 and bought tickets for the 12.50 and then sat in the cafe across the road to use their wi-fi and email our friends Badi and Lesley who were meeting us at the ferry terminal on the island. At 12.30 we boarded the ferry and sat and enjoyed the hour and a half journey across.
