Where I stayed
Celebrity Millennium Cruise Ship
1st June.
Up at the usual time in the last port of Alaska, Ketchikan. After breakfast we went ashore, first stop the jewelery shops to get the last of the coin collection. We then went to the tourist office to get a walking map and then walked to the Point Cafe to use their internet to catch up on emails. After that we walked up to the Rainbird Trail where we heard what sounded like water dropping into a puddle which is what we believe the Rainbird sounds like. There were also lots of Ravens around and a cute red squirrel making a lot of strange noises and movements. At the top we had a great view of the bay and the ship and there were lots of sea planes going back and forth and a few bald eagles soaring around. We then went back into town and walked along Married Mens Trail via the Civic Centre on the hill which had a ring of Totem poles outside which Ketchikan has plenty of. Back in town we walked along Creek Street which has wooden houses on stilts round a nice waterway. Then we got back on board via a chocolate shop that smelled so good that we just had to buy some. Back on board we sat up on deck reading our books watching the eagles and clouds roll in. When it got a little colder, Cat wrapped up in a blanket whilst I jumped into the heated whirlpool for a relaxing soak. Later we went back to our cabin and got ready for the show and then to the restaurant for dinner. As it was formal night, we dressed as smart as we could and hoped we would be allowed in. As we entered the restaurant, we saw we had nothing to worry about as there were people there with jeans and sweaters on! Tonight I thought I'd try lobster, Veneca our waitress from Peru, suggested ordering something else as well, as it was quite a small portion, so I ordered Momma's pork chops as well. Good job really, as I wasn't that keen on the lobster but the pork chops were delicious. After dinner we had a wander round and got chatting to the jewelery staff that were also from England and they told us that the dance crew were from England too. The Brits are growing in numbers! We then got off to bed an hour later than we thought as we were now in Canadian waters.
